I always say about Shivji ki woh bulayen and hum na jaayen, aisa to ho hi nahin sakta. (Translated as whenever Shivji calls me, I must visit him or his places of worship). But this time around I asked him to call me to Ujjain. I wanted to do a puja for my Father’s soul who had passed away last year, and it weighed on my mind. So finally, one of my friends and I decided to go to Ujjain for a short trip and it was so amazing that I decided to pen it down.

Day 1: – We took a flight to Indore and then took a cab from there to Ujjain. Most of the hotels in Ujjain (the only unsatisfactory part of the trip) are overpriced and are not maintained well. You can choose to stay in Indore, but I couldn’t out of my excitement. On day one I went to Chhoti mata and Badi mata temple, and then I wasn’t planning on it, but I felt that Mahakaal also couldn’t wait to see me, so I went to do the evening darshan on the same day. I took a VIP pass which is not very expensive, and the queue and system is super organized, and I got amazing darshan to say the least. The moment I put my foot in the main arena of that temple, I felt immense love energy from Mahakaal. I cannot describe it in words, but it felt like I went to someone’s house who was really happy to see me and welcomed me with a huge, big warm hug.

Also, I missed going to Harsiddhi Maa temple, due to lack of time and knowledge but it’s a must visit as I have heard.

Day 2: – Next day early morning I went on to visit Omkareshwar. It’s a really small temple and I would advise booking tickets online for VIP darshan beforehand as it gets super crowded. This temple I felt had a magical energy. If you deserve fame in any area of your life and you go to this Jyotirlinga, you will come back with energy that will support it. It has a twin Jyotirlinga which is on the other side of the gorgeous Narmada river. This one is called Mamleshwar, I felt that if you go to Mamleshwar, it solidifies that supportive energy that you receive from Omkareshwar. I was already abuzz with energy to go to the Kaveri Narmada Sangam, but if you have time, you can visit that too for wish fulfillment.

Day 3: – This is the day I felt the real energy of the Mahakaal Temple. So, me and my friend decided to do a donation for Mahakaal Annakshetra which is also near the temple complex. This place has the neatest kitchen and the happiest employees I have ever seen. We decided to sponsor a meal, and I was offered to take the bhog of that meal to Mahakaal himself. It was all really unprecedented, like I had no idea about any of this. But from day one I felt loved and welcomed in Ujjain so I just went with it. The moment I took that thali and stepped into that temple again, I felt an indescribable pull as if Mahakaal really wanted to eat the food I was taking to him. And when they returned the thaali with lesser food to me, it became heavier instead of lighter. That day I felt his ladd( like being his favourite), and I came back in the knowing that I will always have it. I cannot wait to go back to Mahakaaleshwar, such is the miraculous nature of this place.

Gadhkaalika Maa

Day 4:- This was a lighter day and I had to come back so I just went to the Gadhkaali temple and that day was a color festival in Ujjain. The moment I entered the temple, some women put pink color on my face, which again felt like Mother’s love. The idol in this temple is so beautiful, that you cannot take your eyes off of it. You have to go there to experience Mother’s beauty and love both. I highly recommend it.

I do hope you find this article helpful and can experience the spiritual love and legacy of this country by going to Mahakaleshwar. This trip will always be unforgettable to me and I will always cherish the memories I made on this trip and I shall treasure Mahakaal’s ladd forever.
